Trying to make a meeting, rushing around as usual, I begin the 2.5 mile drive to the other office location. What should be a mere couple minute drive can easily become twenty minutes if luck is not on your side. That’s right, I’m talking about railroad crossings. When you are in the manufacturing area of the city, I’ve learned that the opportunity for railroad crossings increases substantially. All that aside, this Wednesday was not a lucky day, but through it, God gave me some insight to share with you all.
Here I am, about to cross the horrendously bumpy 4 track crossing, when *cha-ching* the railroad cross beams come down. I glance over and thankfully can actually see the end of the train! My joy quickly leaves as the train slowly chugs to a stop. The conductor proceeds to exit the train! He fusses with the tracks and climbs back into the train, and what must have been only a matter of minutes, it departs on its merry way. What may have been a regular occurrence for this man has now left a huge impression on me.
Sometimes life does bring obstacles in our way, and sometimes we are the obstacles for others. It is important to keep in mind that even though you can see the end result, if you aren’t moving, it doesn’t mean much. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, sometimes changing directions looks like you aren’t moving at all. If you feel that your life or your obstacle is frozen, sometimes God is merely working on changing the direction. So through this lens, I will pray that through our frozenness, God can get us rotated to the right direction.
Best wishes,
Melissa
